Bring Down the Sky is the first downloadable content for Mass Effect and is set to release on March 10, 2008 over Xbox Live Marketplace for 400 Micrososft points (that’s $5). The pack will include about an additional 90 minutes of gameplay, a completely new alien race (the Batarians), and 50 achievement points on Xbox Live. You can choose to play this DLC as either paragon or renegade which results in different outcomes. The two paths are not seperate bundles of content.
In order to be able to play the DLC in-game your character must be onboard (or able to get to) the Normandy since your character will obtain the mission and fly to the asteroid via the Galaxy Map interface.
The Batarian race is known as one of the galaxy’s most hostile and aggressive races which means that encounters with them are very rare, so for now they won’t be seen in other areas throughout the game, but only in the DLC area.
There will also be some smaller additional changes to the main game, including opportunities to gain more experience, paragon / renegade points, levels, and finding things to use or to sell to make money.
