As Dylan Jobe, Game Director of Warhawk stated in his Playstation blog, alot of cool new things are headed your way in the upcoming free Warhawk patch. An official release date has yet to be set, but you should expect the patch to hit your PS3 and Warhawk soon.
The big updates to the game are:
1. Two new ground troop weapons: The Bio-field Generator and Mechanic’s Field Wrench.
The Mechanic’s Wrench is used to repair vehicles. Once you have the Wrench, just walk up to an allied vehicle and start whacking the vehicle with the wrench. It’s also a one hit kill against enemy soldiers, just like the combat knife, and can also be used to damage enemy vehicles.
The Field Generator is similiar to a proximity mine. It sticks to walls, ceilings, and vehicles. When an ally stands withing it’s bio-reactive field their health will start to regen. However, if an enemy walks into the bio-reactive field their health will start to diminish.
2. You can now choose between push to talk chat, or open mic. It will also display who is talking on screen at all times below the mini-map. This is a major improvement over only seeing who is talking above their soldiers head if you were actaully looking at them. There will also be an “all talk” server option so opposing teams can talk during the game.
3. There will be some new plane paint schemes and insignias.
4. HOME integration. This will be included in the patch, but obviously won’t be available until HOME actually releases. While in your HOME apartment, by using your virtual PSP, you will be able to select ‘Create Game’, select Warhawk, and then you get to set up your own player server and options, and then launch Warhawk and play with your friends, directly from HOME.
My opinion: All in all, this patch may actaully give gamers alot more reasons to get back on Warhawk or keep playing in the crowded online shooter market.
